Hey everyone,
Ran out of space and came across a real bargain on fleabay that will become my new FreeNAS server.
- This will run a couple of VM's and a heap of media / backups etc
Looking for a nice balance of performance / resilience
- Will be some NFS, iSCSI and SMB Shares
System IBM HS-1235T
Memory 24GB (will be 48GB in the coming days)
1 x E5645 (6 core /12 thread)
12 x 3TB SAS
1 x Micron 480GB Enterprise SSD M500DC
1 x Dual Port 40GB Mellanox (Will pull this out)
1 x Quad port Intel
2 x Intel LOM
So my planned configuration (open to suggestions!)
Pool : Data
vdev1 5 x 3TB Raidz2
vdev2 5 x 3TB Raidz2
2 x Hot spares
Is it worth using the Micron SSD for an L2Arc or SLOG? or combine them on the drive?
