I am wondering if you can cluster FreeNAS itself. I want to take 2-3 FreeNAS boxes and cluster them so that if one box were to die, I wouldn't lose data and my storage would still be working. I have seen many mentions of having clusters actually access storage via iSCSI, but I can't find anything that shows if you can actually cluster FreeNAS itself. My theory is that I store VMs on FreeNAS and if one of the FreeNAS boxes dies, I am still running on the others.

Anyone done this?

I'm interested in this as well. I'm using FreeNas 8 -- anyone been able to set up a cluster?

just ranting:
You could just set up multiple FreeNAS boxes.
When Unison arrives you can let it synchronise your data.
The only but is that it isn't a true cluster and that is uses multiple host names.
Maybe some sort of load balancer in front of it could simulate a cluster.

But you probably want some integrated solution.

If you just want to secure your data in case of a crash I believe you can use replication.

Hi guys, I am also interested to cluster my FreeNAS box to avoid the single point of failure it represents.

Could you please let me know if you found a solution for this?

Thanks in advance !
