Hello!

I'm in the process of playing around with my new FreeNAS box before doing my definitive setup.
At the moment, I'm trying to configure a CIFS share.

My goal is to have multiple data sets which...
1) Anyone in the network can have read access (or possibly anyone whos IP address I've added) without requiring a login
2) Authorized users can have write access by logging in

What I've done so far...
1) Created test data set
2) Created a group
3) Created a user and added the group to auxiliary groups
4) Modified the permissions of the data set to allow read/write access to the group
5) Created a CIFS share for that data set
6) Activated CIFS service

My questions...
1) I've added my local IP address to the "Hosts allow" box for the CIFS share. Is this necessary? Who can use the service if it is left empty?
2) If I tick "Allow Guest Access" for the CIFS share, I am only able to access the data set from my Windows PC as guest (I am unable to write data) and if I don't tick it I'm only able to access the data set with my login credentials. What is the best practice to achieve my goals?

Many thanks.
