cant get permission right on mac OSX over samba share GRRR

I have created pools, I share over samba, connect to the share via Finder cd through /Volumes.

For every file I create I get permissions of "rwx"

eg.

echo "2" > t2.txt

ls -l
total 2048
-rwx------ 1 paul staff 2 Jul 23 12:50 t2.txt


Can anyone help?

funny you should point this out. I've been reading that thread and bookmarked it for later. I'm not new with linux, but much of it is somewhat beyond me. I can't say I really understand all the suggestions. It's frustrating that freenas seems to be so oriented towards making it easy for windows clients to connect, it seems its unix cousin OSX is little considered.

I timed out but I'll try to plow through it. If I do find a solution, I'll try to post a concise solution. Did you get there in the end?
