Hi,

I've been running 9.2.x for some time now. At one point I tried a 9.3 pre-release so that I could try the Virtualbox plugin. At the time I could not figure out how to read physical cds or dvds. Now I didn't try very hard since I'm a noob at freebsd.

So my question is: can the 9.3 stable version of FreeNAS's virtualbox pllugin be given access to the physical dvd drive? If so can someone point me towards a howto? If not then I can stop spinning my wheels. My use-case is ripping cds and dvds from a Windows XP guest. My google-fu is failing me...

Thanks
-Bert

Did you find the answer to this? If not, is the drive internal or USB?

I haven't figured it out yet. I've been reading a bunch of pages, manpages, etc.

I did build a 9.3 system. It doesn't have the VM yet. I created a standard jail with the hope of figuring out how to access the optical drive.

At the moment it's an internal drive identified as cd0 to freeNAS. I can mount it from the host, but not yet from a jail.
