Can a train be renamed? (11.2 Beta)

I try to help out the community here and elsewhere on the internet, where I can, but I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 10 to 20 posts from people lamenting this whole "11.2 Stable" naming convention.


Regardless of what FreeBSD is up to, beta is beta is beta and should be named as such. Luckily /this beta/ is working mostly well.
Why can't you call it (11.2 Initial) or (11.2 Testing) and have the thing rename itself when it's done, or something
It is consistently annoying the end users and generally the less experienced ones, losing you mindshare by frustrating them.

I think it's time for a conversation about this to be honest. Surely there's a solution possible here?

The official statement is that it's too late to do this for 11.2, but that train naming scheme will be changed starting release 11.3.

Sorry Dan, I must've missed the conclusion somehow. I felt like for some reason, they just said "nah, this is how FreeBSD do it, etc etc" and that was that.
