Hello there,

I´ve hit the wall - the wall of the many choices on what to buy to get the right hardware for a server that does what i need it to do.

It needs to:

Connect to the tv in the livingroom directly with XBMC (Hence the hdmi & spdif)
Serve media content via Plex transcoding to 2 other tv´s in the house.
Run NVR for 4 x 3 megapixel cameras.

Storage is minimum 4 discs

Form Factor is irrelevant for me, since its going to be built into a wall.

I hope this is enough information to get some input from you guys, before my head spins off ;)

Regards JSEH

Your thread topic is confusing. FreeNAS has no audio or video drivers whatsoever. FreeNAS has nothing to use locally except the command line. If your intention is to play movies directly from your FreeNAS machine onto your TV (which is your intent if you care about HDMI and SPDIF) then this is not the OS for you.
