I just started getting a boot pool status degraded message from an older FreeNAS Mini XL unit.

I'm not overly familiar with this unit however it appears to show one of the mirrored boot devices
as being degraded and removed.

When I look at the unit I only see one 16GB Sata DOM.. no USB flash drives. Am I missing something?

Thanks

That SATA DOM looks loose. But, maybe not.

Is their a second SATA DOM behind that one?
Or perhaps somewhere else?

If their truly is just 1 SATA DOM, then at some point someone removed the 2nd SATA DOM. It is your choice if you want to replace it, or run on a single SATA DOM.

PS - SATA DOMs tend to be more expensive that 2.5" SATA SSDs. BUT, SATA DOMs do have their place due to size constraints or power constraints. Some of FreeNAS Mini cases had room for a 2.5" drive, so you can check if that is an option for you, assuming you want to replace the failed / missing SATA DOM.
