Bind one NIC to TrueNAS and another to a VM on the same network

Hi,
I am still figuring out all the bells and whistles of TrueNAS on my setup, so forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere already, but I was not able to find (search properly) for this topic.

Problem:
Since I have multiple physical NIC interfaces on my motherboard I want to speed things up a bit by, for example, running all services (smb, afp, etc...) on one dedicated NIC, but have VM(s) use other NICs (some VM connect to the services). When I try to enable a second NIC however it says "Only one interface can be used for DHCP". I found this thread on the topic and some people asked for a similar setup with VMs, but there was never an answer to this specific use case.

A simple setup would be TrueNAS and services on NIC0 and PlexVM on NIC1, both NICs connect to a simple DHCP router.

How can I set this up? Is there a good guide?

System info:
OS: FreeNAS-11.3-U5
MB: A2SDi-HLN4F

Best regards
