Hello once again guys, in the past it has been really easy to find fixes for my problems whenever i ask you guys for help. THANK YOU for that.
Now, all I want to do is backup a folder on the MyCloud that is in my office, to my home FreeNAS box. I was looking into ways of doing this. I thought about rsync, but I could not figure it out (maybe you can help me do it.) And now, I was looking into a Syncthing setup, and then backing up the Syncthing folder that is "mirrored" with the one on my office. Can you guys tell me what will be the best way to accomplish what I need. Thanks in advance.

How are you connecting? How much data are you trying to backup? What's your access? How big are your pipes? <--Those will at least get us started.

I have the MyCloud like this:

MyCloud-->Switch-->Router-->Modem-->Internet

The FreeNAS box is like this:

FreeNAS-->Switch-->Router-->Modem-->Internet

Data is around 25GB.

I do not understand this questions.
What's your access? How big are your pipes?

Access --> Do you control both routers, and can you open ports at will, or are you restricted by how you can pass data through to your devices?
Pipes --> How much bandwidth do you have on each connection? (Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_of_tubes)

Thanks for the clarification.

1- Yes, I control both routers and can make any changes I want to the ports, etc.
2- Both connections are around 100 Down / 10 Up.

Impatient much?

Are you trying to do a one-time backup, or do you require regular backups? If so, how much data is changing, and how regularly do you need to synchronize the backups?

Honestly, your best bet is probably rsync. For synchronizing data between two dissimilar file systems, rsync is the easiest and simplest to set up and get working. If you want help getting rsync set up on FreeNAS, refer to the documentation: https://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas_tasks.html#rsync-tasks For the WD MyCloud, check out the forums: https://community.wd.com/t/can-i-set-up-wdmycloud-as-an-rsync-server-for-a-synology-nas/93759

Sorry, lol. I just dont want the post to be burried away :(
I need weekly, or even daily backups. Not much data will be changed, maybe like couple hundred MB. Its mostly documents, some get created, and some old ones get changed. I would like to have them as syncronized as possible, so like daily? is that too much?
Yeah, i suppose rsync is the best. Now I have to figure out how to make it work with FreeNAS. Thanks mate. Cheers.

Your data needs and network environment are well within what rsync can do for you. That is probably your best bet.

OK, I will try to set that up then, the only problem is setting up the WD Cloud with rsync, I have no idea how to do that. If I have to use SSH, I dont think i might be able to do it, I have no machine over there that has linux.

The thread on the WD forums that I linked to (and the other threads it links to) should help you get it figured out. If you have other questions on the MyCloud, those forums will probably be a better resource.
