I'm confused about what things need to work together for ECC memory. From the searching I've done, it seems like AMD is fairly good with ECC memory in their AM3/AM3+ socket CPUs, and Asus seems to have good ECC support.

So, here is the build I am considering.

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872
AMD Sempron 145 Sargas - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103888
2x AMD Radeon 8GB DDR3 1600 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820403019
4x WD NAS 2TB HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236343
Rosewill Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153
Rosewill 450W 80+GOLD Power - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066
Radeon HD 5450 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131338

16 GB ECC RAM for a RAIDZ2 Setup. I might buy a 5th drive for a hot spare.

Thoughts?

Not sure if the Sempron support ECC.

I think only Asus has official support for ECC on these boards, although it should work on the Gigabyte too.
CPU should be fine. Using one of those myself :)

Yeah, I'm a bit wary of going with Gigabyte for that reason. I saw someone else in the forum who was getting one and was pretty sure it would work, but I'm not sure I want to gamble here. The Asus motherboard I want seems to be sold out now. The one I listed up top is a more expensive version that doesn't have integrated video, which I would like to have. The motherboard in your NAS02, is that the exact version? I saw this on Newegg:

ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131795

Newegg says it only supports 8 GB RAM total, but Asus's website says it will support 16, and I've seen a couple of reviews by people that support that claim, so I think I might go with this motherboard and the Athlon processor.
