Hello,

I'm trying to set up GPU acceleration following instructions https://www.truenas.com/community/t...-build-for-plex-hardware-acceleration.109137/ . My CPU is an Intel core i3 12100; I'm running TrueNAS-13.0-U4.

So I enabled pkg on the host, I know it is not advised but I don't see how to install graphic driver otherwise : )
When I install drm-kmod or drm-510-kmod https://www.freshports.org/graphics/drm-510-kmod/ , which looks more recent, and libva-utils, vainfo command outputs

So it seems to me that these drivers do not support Alder Lake. Is my understanding correct, and if so, is there a driver that I can install on truenas core (I guess a freebsd 13 driver) that supports GPU acceleration for Alder Lake? Tried to google to find answers to my questions but didn't find very clear information.

Thanks!

Well, I switched my whole system to Debian 12, loaded my zfs pool, configured my services, gpu acceleration working directly. Everything finally ends up being much simpler working from scratch.

I am considering the same...however...the performance on Truenas Scale is way worse then on the FreeBSD version. at least this is my current understanding

You mean that the preformance is way worse because it is Linux instead of BSD, or simply because True Nas Scale is newer and less mature than True Nas Core?

Second. I remember seeing a speed comparison on smb between the 2. The Linux version was way slower.
