I just built my very first FreeNAS server: HP N54L, 8GB ECC RAM, FreeNAS 9.3 stable, 4*WD green 2TB.
In the long run I will put 6*Seagate 3TB in the micro server, but for test purposes the 4 disks should do.

First I made a group "users" 1001 and a user "ms" 1001.
I created a zpool and a share "TestZFS", enabled AFP, set the owner of the share to "ms", the sharing mode to Mac, and then on my MacBook mounted the volume TestZFS. From the Finder I can copy files to the share, but if I try to create a folder with cmd-shift-N or try to copy a folder to the share, I get first a Finder dialog asking to enter the password, and then an error message telling me I do not have the permissions...

I have a monitor and keyboard on the N54LI started a shellon the N54L and looked at the share's properties:
$ ls -al /mnt/zpool1/TestZFS
but the owner was indeed "ms", the group "users", and write permission was on for owner and group.

Any tips what might be the culprit?

Problem solved. I just made a new share, and there I can create folders.
No idea what was wrong with the first share, though...
