Suddenly after running faultlessly for a few days after installation, the normal "GUI" in FireFox Browser looks like there is no Formatting and no Graphics any more.
What causes this display?

As per the forum rules, post the build version of FreeNAS (from System -> Information) and your hardware specs.

Pardon, I forgot the Basics:
Hard to get the "System -> Information" with this misconfigured Display that does not react at all to mouse clicks

Happens rarely. Try clearing the browser cache and rebooting the server if that doesn't help.

Nope, that wasn't it.

Chrome and Safari also does it. All caches of Safari, FF and Chrome were cleared.

FreeNAS 9.10.2-U2 was rebooted several times, to no avail :-(

Well, your VM is allocated only half the minimum required RAM--that isn't going to help.
Completely missed that detail.

Nothing helped. Increasing to 8GB Ram also made no difference.

I finally decided to install another Virtual Machine. It works OK.

There is a problem though; how can the data volume created by the broken installation, which is on a seperate external virtual drive on the host, be attached to the new installation, without the apparent forced required formatting it? The new system sees it and wants to attach it, but all options to do it requires a reformat.

There is a lot of Data on the external volume - formating is a no-go.

You should be able to import the pool. Don't use the volume manager; that's used to create and change pools.
