I have some serious issues with my FreeNAS 8.1-RELEASE installation.

I use a standard Supermicro server with 16GB of ECC RAM
I have 4x SEAGATE BARRACUDA GREEN 2TB 5900RPM SATA/600 64MB

First problem. I suddenly lost connection to one of the disks and the pool became in degraded state. Reboot didn't help but physical power cycling got the disk up and running again.

Next I am getting timeouts. Plese see log below.

Anyone have any hints for me?
Thanks in advance
Jens

Have you ran the Saegate SeaTools hard drive diagnostics utility to verify the integrity of the hard drive?

SeaTools have been runned

I have now runned SeaTools bad sector scan and it shows no problems.

Interesting though, the pool is now in a degraded state but seem to work better.
(3/4 connected disks)

Is it possible that there is another error? Could it be that the disk have doubtful sectors and rereads these over and over for long times causing so long delays so that zfs times out?

I also experience issues with my VMWare ESXi 4.1 boxes which times out over NFS. They did not do this with my old file server, basically the same setup but other disk brand (Seagate now, WD then) and other server brand HP then, SuperMicro now.

Any ideas are appreciated
Jens
