Hey guys,

I keep getting this message over and over again.
I kicked off a scrub, but just wondering what the best course of action is here?

Should I just go ahead and replace the disk?

Well, there is only one unreadable sector but usually when you have one you'll have 10 tomorrow and 100 the day after tomorrow...

What I recommend is to buy a spare drive now and if the unreadable sector rises then replace the drive (see the replace process in the manual) ;)

NB: make sure you have scheduled automatic SMART tests.

Thanks for the reply's.

I have enabled SMART so will see how that goes.
Its still reporting 1 sector so at least its not going up like crazy.

Lastly if I were to say buy a bigger capacity drive maybe 4/5tb over the 3tb that I have in there, I wouldn't be able to use the extra space until I replace all the drives is this correct?
And is there a way to drop the faulty drive out the pool, and just run it as degraded?

Yes.

What happens when the next drive fails? Instant data loss.

Yeah i get the instant data loss.
I wont be doing it for a long period. Maybe an hour or so.

And then I will be swapping it out.
