Hi
we are looking to configure files shares to allow access from our cleanroom these pc's are windows 98 XP machines using SMB authenication but once the user is out of the cleanroom and signed onto their windows 8.1.1 machine on Active directory they will also need to access the same data. Does anyone know if this is possible so double authenication on
the same share on the Freenas server.

Thanks
Brenden

Will they be using the same credentials? If so, it shouldn't make a difference.

Windows 98 and Windows XP? I guess these aren't joined to a domain.

It's a bit tricky to have WIndows 98 access a modern SMB share. You want to enable it to use NTLMv2 authentication you'll need to install the "directory services client", and to do this I believe you'll need a server 2000 CD. Once it's installed you can adjust LMCompatibilityLevel to 3.

As far as user accounts go, you'd either have them use domain creds via NTLM auth or create local user accounts on the FreeNAS server for them to use.
