I put together a script this afternoon to light up the disk failure LEDs on a compatible SAS backplane when a disk is faulted, offline, or otherwise in an error status. It seems to work for me with a Supermicro SAS backplane; I haven't been able to test it with any others. It uses https://github.com/amarao/sdled to control the LEDs. The script itself as well as usage information can be found at:
