I recently rebuild my raid array, chose "RAIDZ3". If my memory serves correct, I put 8 drives in, and 2 hot spares. I check today, and now there is only 1 hot spare. It is possible with my age - my own memory fails me. My intention with 2 hot spares was for safety reasons.
I assume the system has absorbed one hot spare? I am confused. Should that be something that shows up on my alerts, like "warning: system has enabled a hot spare" in with the hard-drive "Refquota exceeded" notifications? Or is that something I must configure? Frustrated at the moment, and kind of overwhelmed by the information I try to figure this out on my own.
Are the pool hot-spare handling logged in a file anywhere, if yes - can I please know where? And relevant information to help me understand the health of my physical disks, and any automatic procedures/tasks TRUENAS will calls to rebuild, replace a disk or otherwise - please?
