If I go to Storage > Volumes > View Disks all I get is "No entry has been found". I have zpools and zvols created using these disks, but nothing shows in the WebGUI. Searching through the documentation and the forums has revealed no solution to this problem, and all of the entries are several years old.

Works fine for me... Can you run Verify Install and report back?

What is Verify Install? (Edit: Nevermind, found the Verify Install button) The systems were set up by IXSystems. I did run the upgrade to 9.10 STABLE, but I don't know if they were visible in View Disks prior to that.

We have two FreeNAS boxes, both of which were originally set up by IXSystems. Both have been updated to 9.10 STABLE using the web interface. Neither one is showing any entries under View Disks.

I ran the verify install on both of the boxes we have. Both came back with:

The following Inconsistencies were found in your Current Install:
List of Checksum Mismatches:
/boot/loader.conf

List of Files/Directories/Symlinks not Found:
/compat/linux/proc/.donotremove

List of Permission Errors:
/compat/linux/proc Expected MODE: 0755, Got: 0555

List of Checksum Mismatches:
/boot/loader.conf
That looks dubious.
List of Files/Directories/Symlinks not Found:
/compat/linux/proc/.donotremove
Same.
List of Permission Errors:
/compat/linux/proc Expected MODE: 0755, Got: 0555
I think that's just a bug, nothing to worry about.

I'd try reinstalling FreeNAS. Be sure to save a copy of the config file, so that you don't have to reconfigure from scratch.

If iXsystems did the installation, I take it you don't have some maintenance contract with them?

Also, lets try to clear the air just a bit here and figure out exactly what is going on.

1) List your hardware.
2) Which version of FreeNAS are you using?
3) Was this working before the upgrade or did it stop working before that?
4) Is the FreeNAS OS on a USB Flash drive? If yes, I'd replace it with a new one when you reinstall FreeNAS and leave the original one in-tact.
5) How are the hard drives connected to the system? Directly to the motherboard or to an add-on card?
6) Are the hard drives spinning?
7) Post the output of "dmesg" in code tags (listing).

@joeschmuck:
No, we only have a maintenance contract on the hardware we purchased from them.
1) The hardware for both boxes:
Intel Xeon E5-2609v2 @ 2.50GHz
34GB RAM
Intel Pro/1000 Quad-port NIC
8X HGST 8TB HDD

2) FreeNAS-9.10.1.U1 (ff51a5d)

3) I don't know if this was working before the upgrade or not

4) The OS is not on a flash drive, it looks like it is on a 30GB partition

5) Harddrives appear to be on a daughter board, these are SuperMicro boxes

6) Yes, the harddrives are spinning, in fact I have zvols and and datasets running on the drives; periodic snapshots are running, and replication between the two boxes is working as well.

7) I'll post the dmesg output later as I am not currently on a machine with access to the FreeNAS boxes

@Ericloewe: I'm not exactly fond of the idea of re-installing the OS on production boxes, unless of course that is the ONLY recourse.

Well it appears that you have a lot of SAS drives connected. Because everything appears to be working, it might be a good thing to simply ask iXsystems (these folks are on this forum) if this is normal.

The other thing might be if you got a warning message about the LSI card needing a firmware upgrade to version 21.

Ensure all your data is backed up if you need to update the LSI board. Of course just unplugging the data cables would be good enough from the controller card.

Firmware P21 does not exist. P20 is compatible with driver 21.

Maybe my wording was not completely clear but I was only trying to express if they got the warning, maybe it would be a sign of something to troubleshoot. But then I mention about reprogramming the LSI card, and in my mind I was thinking about reflashing P20. Yup, not very clear. My apologies.

I have seen the message about needing to upgrade the firmware, but as it was there since we got the boxes from iXsystems I never gave it much thought. I guess I'll need to look in to reflashing P20. The intersting thing, and something I have seen in similar posts, is that if I go to Storage > View Multipaths I do see the drives, and they are showing up in dmesg, but not in Storage > View Disks. So I'm not really sure how re-flashing the firmware would be a benefit.

Not really, I don't see that as your next step.

My advice: Submit a bug report (link at the top of the forum page) stating the problem. If there is a bug, it will get fixed. If it's not a bug, they will tell you why.
