SOLVED UPS not waiting timer before shutting down

Hi,
the ups service is configured to shutdown the box when "UPS goes on battery" after 55 seconds.
But it always shuts down immediately, without waiting the specified timer.

Do you know what could be the reason?

Perhaps I should mention that I recently replaced the battery with a non-original one, and I can't get rid of the LOWBATT alert since (but I'm sure it's fully charged)

That is your answer. The UPS service sees the low battery indicator and thinks it needs to shut down immediately.

Is there any trick to override the LOWBATT alert?
Perhaps hardcoding into the nut ups.conf?

For the last 3 days i have been getting emails, about 7 a day, warning that the ups is on LOWBATT. i'm 99.9% convinced that there must be an error as the ups has power to it and should not be on battery. the only change i have made to my setup is to add my workstation to the ups with my server...

I'll try calibrating the battery now, by completely draining it and then charging it back.

SOLVED, so here's what I did.

I connected the UPS to a Windows machine, started Powerchute and reset the date of the battery (there's a button somewhere).

After I did that, the value battery.runtime magically changed from 0 to 1080!

That was the problem, the LOWBATT alert was most probably caused by the battery.runtime value of 0.

The ups service is now working properly, waiting the requested time before issuing the shutdown command.


BTW, I also did a complete manual calibration of the battery, by discharging it completely with a load of approx 33% but it wasn't useful.
