I have 7.4.156 running right now using the standard FreeNAS Plugin, but I can't seem to update to 7.4.162. When I hit update it gives all kinds of errors and just boots back to 7.4.156. Any thoughts?

You need to wait for the FreeBSD package to be updated. Don't use the builtin update function.

and..... the pkg/ports for unifi7 on FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE (TrueNAS core 13.0-U5) has been updated. if you used pkg, you need to be on the 'latest' rather than the 'quarterly' spin, via /etc/pkg/FreeBSD.conf, setting: url: "pkg+http://pkg.FreeBSD.org/${ABI}/latest"

after pkg update runs to completion in the unifi7 jail, then you need to service unifi restart, and wait a few minutes for it to reinitialize.

Just wanted to bump this thread to say I just did the same process:

pkg delete unifi7

pkg install unifi8

in my jail and that worked fine.

Thats good news.
I have few questions as i am not sure.
- are any settings stored on the machine?
- will i have to configure it again?
- will it keep my settings

Reading back to the beginning of the thread, you can see that you need to take a backup of the settings in the case where you create a new jail to get out of the plugin situation (https://www.truenas.com/community/t...er-version-upgrade-question.99987/post-701244).

I don't think I needed to use it these last few times, but if you do, it's better to have it.

All needed data is in the backup you create in the Unifi GUI, so nothing will be lost.

TLDR: Wait few minutes after upgrading if you are getting error "not found 404"

What i did is:
i took a backup and tried
pkg delete unifi7
pkg install unifi8

I got page not found 404 and i was very disapointed. I was trying to get it working but ended up reinstalling a fresh version of the pluging (7) in another jail just to realise it is also showing 404 error.
Suprisingly new install started working after few minutes while i was "fighting" with the orignal jail.
I managed to use my backup and i was runing fine on the new install still with 7.

However after some time the updated "old" jail with 8 started working and it was all set up.
Maybe its because my nas is a bit old (gen3 intel i3) and is a bit slow.. not sure .. but just give it time.
