When I do a -update -v check I get that

[root@freenas ~]# freenas-update -v check

it was working before and the only thing I changed is my network interface.

delete existing config (y/n) N
configure interface for DHCP (y/n) N
interface name: Freenas
ipv4 address: 10.0.1.3
ipv4 netmask: 255.255.255.0
configure ipv6? (y/n) N

I saw a bug report https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/16736

they says that the dns isn't working
I didn't configure my DNS at all since I've build my freenas box. so is it on the rooter-side the problem or the dns config on the freenas box ?

They are correct. Fix your DNS issue.

When I run it:
Code:

My System is running FreeNAS 9.10.2-U4.

DNS is working:
Code:
nas04# nslookup update-master.ixsystems.com
Server: 192.168.1.3
Address:	192.168.1.3#53
Non-authoritative answer:
update-master.ixsystems.com	canonical name = update-master.freenas.org.
Name:	update-master.freenas.org
Address: 64.71.187.3

Still it shows the same error as mentioned by Keven:
Code:
nas04# freenas-update -v check
[freenasOS.Configuration:637] TryGetNetworkFile([u'http://update-master.ixsystems.com/FreeNAS/FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE/LATEST'])

The intention of my post was just to contribute the fact, that the issue with
Code:
TryGetNetworkFile
is not a singular problem encountered by @Keven. Numerous posts show a similar problem.

The manual update just runs into the same issue with
Code:
TryGetNetworkFile
, only with a different URL:
Code:
http://update-master.ixsystems.com/FreeNAS/FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE/LATEST
http://update-master.ixsystems.com/updates/ix_crl.pem

This is still within the initial scope, but
the last resort you mentioned, downloading the latest ISO, writing it to a USB drive and perform an upgrade,
results in ever rebooting the system.

Have you tried a different boot device or just re-installing over the previous one? SSD or USB?

For the Installation I used USB-Drives. I tried an Installation on one of the mirrored USB-Drives the system runs on and on a blank USB-Drive. With the first one, I tried both Upgrade and fresh Install. In all cases, the Error/Reboot occurs after showing
Code:
Installing base-os (1 of 5)

and before showing the first dot of the progress indication.

Hmm.so you used a third USB? Corrupt USB was going to be my guess.

As mentioned above, the initial intention of my post was to contribute the fact, that it appeared to me, that the issue with an upgrade as described by @Keven is not to a singular issue.

Hmm.so you used a third USB? Corrupt USB was going to be my guess.

For completeness, a test with with https://www.heise.de/download/product/h2testw-50539/download on all involved drives resulted in no error.

Today, I am posting to document, that without any further changes it just happens, that the upgrade with the UI is working.

Nevertheless, thank you @m0nkey_ and @diedrichg for your help.
