Hi All,

I have two different smb shares on two different devs. I can see both shares by going to the server \\ip\. One share I can access from Windows (any copy and machine in my network) and the other gives Permission denied. From what I can tell both are setup exactly the same, ACLs are identical and guest access is enabled, but I Windows will not connect to the second share.

Pool 1: Main /mnt/Main
Share: /mnt/Main/newplex
This is what cannot be accessed via Windows.

Pool 2: Media /mnt/Media -
Share: /mnt/Media/Plex
Share can be accessed via Windows

System Information:
intel i5-8500t
16g of ram
OS on it's own drive

Thank you for you help.

Can you share the output of testparm -s and also the permissions you have configured.

Did you create the catia vfs object/mappings on the newplex share for any particular reason?

Have you tried deleting the share itself not the dataset and recreating it without any extra vfs objects and see if that works?

There was no particular reason, and not sure why I set it up that way. I have since deleted the share and recreating it without the extra objects. No joy. Still gives a permissions error in Windows.

there is the testparm output

Have you restarted SMB?

I just attempted by stopping the service and then restarting it. Still cannot access.

Is it possible there is a setting on the pool that I am unaware of that is causing this? I ask because I can access both shares /sftp and /Plex and these are both in the Media pool. The /newplex share is in the Main pool.

You could try and 'STRIP ACLS' from the dataset and then re-apply.

I did try that and then reapplied the permissions and still didn't have any luck. So to close this one out, I didn't have much data in that pool. So I deleted it and started over. I will attempt to recreate the problem with a different pool and report back on anything that I come across that fixes it. Thank you for your help.

It's an odd one. Defo let us know how it goes when you start over. Good luck.
