Looking at this to upgrade my setup:
SUPERMICRO X5DPR-IG2
Anyone got any ideas on if it's any good for the purpose?
Seen a good offer with 2 CPUs and RAM, so wondered if it's worth spending money on?
Cheers all!

VERY poor choice. That board uses DDR(DDR-1), so 12GB max. That's only 4GB above the minimum for FreeNAS with ZFS.

There's plenty more complaints: no PCIe slots. You are stuck with PCI and PCI-X, IDE only and no SATA, etc etc etc.

I wouldn't spend any money on it. And if it were free I wouldn't even waste my time trying to put FreeNAS on it unless I was going to go UFS and never use CIFS.

That board is circa 2005ish if I remember correctly. Not sure what you are expecting for 8+ year old equipment. ;)
