Hi,

I am not sure how should I ask this question, but what happened is strange and very very frustrating.
Any link to step to step guide is appreciated.

Problem scenario:

Remove all HDDS from an existing dead FreeNAS box and putting them to a new system and restore all volume information along with data.

This is unbelievable, because rat / some rodent urinating on the motherboard and eventually frying it, it still smells very pungent. This happened for the fact that this machine was kept offsite for remote backups.

Drives are not reinserted after original failure. No attempt is made yet to recover it, preventing any possible chance of data corruption.

Please suggest an absolute method for it. It would be a great help.

You will have to explain yourself better.

You imply you've moved the drives to the new system. Are they not recognized?
The expectation is that everything should just work in the new system.

mod note: Moved to new user forum, this isn't a troubleshooting guide

I did not move anything yet. I took the drives out and awaiting some kind of a guide. I will build a new box and then put these drives back but do not want to lose any data.

So just need to know where to start after installing a fresh installation of FreeNAS.

Thanks in advance.

Just move everything over and everything should just work, as documented all over the forum. If it doesn't, we'll work from there.
