I plugged my sl24 24-slot tape unit into freenas.

Used some of Dan Lagille's instructions so that a freenas jail running bacula can see it....Actually, the jail saw the device all by itself except there is no symlinks setup for sa0.0 or nsa0.0 and there is a sa0.ctl

The camcontrol in the jail shows:
root@Jail_Bacula:/usr/home/philhu # camcontrol devlist
<HP Ultrium 4-SCSI B49W> at scbus0 target 4 lun 0 (sa0,pass0)
<HP MSL G3 Series E.80> at scbus0 target 4 lun 1 (pass1,ch0)
...

The /dev shows in the jail as:
root@Jail_Bacula:/usr/home/philhu # ls -l /dev/pass1 /dev/ch0* /dev/pass0 /dev/sa0* /dev/nsa0*
crw------- 1 root operator 0x7c Aug 2 17:34 /dev/ch0
crw-rw---- 1 root operator 0xa0 Aug 2 17:34 /dev/nsa0
crw------- 1 root operator 0x7d Aug 2 17:34 /dev/pass0
crw------- 1 root operator 0x7e Aug 2 17:34 /dev/pass1
crw-rw---- 1 root operator 0x9f Aug 2 17:34 /dev/sa0
crw-rw---- 1 root operator 0x9e Aug 2 17:34 /dev/sa0.ctl
root@Jail_Bacula:/usr/home/philhu # /usr/local/sbin/mtx-changer /dev/passq slots
/usr/local/sbin/mtx-changer: Command not found.
root@Jail_Bacula:/usr/home/philhu # pkg add mtx
pkg: mtx: No such file or directory
pkg: Was 'pkg install mtx' meant?

Failed to install the following 1 package(s): mtx
root@Jail_Bacula:/usr/home/philhu #
-----------------------------------
So, mtx-canger is missing, and I assume the mtx package too. I see a pkg called mtx_tools, that has a mtx binary in to , but where is the binary for mtx-changer, or how do I get the tape tools installed?

Thanks in advance

I did get mtx etc installed using the ports directories

Actually, I am running my first tape backup in a freenas jail using bacula right now! It is running, with spooling, 2.3x faster that the old machine running as a net backup. This is due to local files backup instead of network backup
