I was deleting a directory of lot of files that I had in FreeNAS, and it was taking too long. I opened up a command line and deleted with rm -rf <directory_name> still it is taking too long. I looked at iostat -xd 5 output and saw svc_t too high. Is it normal to see it? Still deletes are slow, in the command line of the FreeNAS server that I have. I particularly have no other issues. when reading and writing. I only noticed this during a delete operation. (I have had snap shots enabled in this directory is it due to that.).

Thank you for the reply I had 70,000 files to delete, took 8 minutes from the command prompt using the rm -rf <directory name> command. I thought, in the unix shell, rm -rf operation should finish very quickly. I was wrong, also my main concern was why svc_t was high. Anyway assume I am finishing this thread, and leave it for any one who notice similar delay to benefit from what I noticed.
