Hey guys. I just ordered one of these (Supermicro SC846E16-R1200B) for my new server build. However, my rack is a bit old school -- it has 10/32 threaded holes, not square, and it's rather shallow -- 23" between posts. So I'm going to order some of these adapters:

https://www.racksolutions.com/1u-adapter-brackets.html
https://www.racksolutions.com/2u-adapter-brackets.html

I'll need two of the 1UBRK-059 (or 2UBRK-059-FULL) brackets for the front, and I know the standard rails for the SC846 have a minimum depth of 26.5", so I need the 3.5" extenders for the rear (1UBRK-350 or 2UBRK-350) for the back. What I want to know, though, is how many U do the rails require for mounting? Do they mount to a single U's worth of rail post, or do they require 2U? I'd love to get these ordered now, without having to wait for the server to arrive first, and it's hard to judge that mounting height from the pictures I've found online. Thanks!

I would go with the 2U version. Here are some pics of mine installed in rack positions 7-10:

Just for the record, Supermicro makes a short rail set designed for 19-23" racks. Might work better for you: MCP-290-00058-0N
And, their square-hole-to-round-hole adapter: MCP-290-00060-0N

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't found the part number for their threaded hole adapter, but I was aware of the short rail kit. If my only issue was the length, then the short rail kit would definitely be a cleaner solution than the extender brackets. But since I needed to convert from threaded to square hole as well, I would have needed brackets anyway, so it made sense to just get the extender brackets and solve both problems at once. But I appreciate the part numbers -- I've saved them for future reference, because I hadn't been able to find them in my previous searches.
