Here's my current setup:
When the drive is mapped on a Windows computer with the user inside one of the AD groups, I don't see any folders (no permissions). If I add the user to the folder security manually, the permissions take. I've tried rebooting the FreeNAS server with no change.
During troubleshooting, I found out something really strange: if I map the drive using the IP address instead of the hostname, the permissions work as they should. DNS seems to work fine. All the appropriate entries are there and the system is resolving fine. It really has me stumped how one could have anything to do with the other.
- Physical FreeNAS 9.3 STABLE
- 2x Intel NICs (.20 and .21)
- Active Directory joined
- RaidZ2 pool with dataset "Media"
- CIFS shared "Media" (Apply default permissions unchecked) (listening on both IP addresses)
- Media permissions: Owner: AD\Administrator, Owner Group: AD\Domain Admins with Permission Type: Windows
