I got email this morning:

NAS kernel log messages:
> da4 at mps0 bus 0 scbus2 target 4 lun 0
> da4: <SEAGATE ST31000640SS MS0C> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-5 device
> da4: Serial Number 9---------
> da4: 300.000MB/s transfers
> da4: Command Queueing enabled
> da4: 953869MB (1953525168 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 121601C)

-- End of security output --

SMART seems ok. All drives online. No known errors.

Why do i get this message then?

Doesn't look like an error, just a status message that was logged to /var/log/messages. If other messages aren't being logged and the tests are OK, should be fine.

Normally you'll get that message when you add a disk to a system. Is it possible that disk was added after bootup? Or maybe "disconnected" and later "reconnected"? Remember, if the disk timed out due to an internal problem and later recovered that would appear to look the same. Bad PSU could cause a hard drive to hiccup and see what you are seeing.
