I recently upgraded my NAS to a 8 disk pool. The motherboard has 6 sata connections. The other 2 disks are connected to a Pcie Marvel 88SE9123.
Those two disks giving SMART errors "FAILED SMART self-check. BACK UP DATA NOW!". After swapping the disks with 2 brand new ones, the message keeps returning. When the disks are in the motherboard sata slots, I get no errors.
A manual smartctl does get me a full smart return. "Error SMART Status command failed".
Could it be the Marvel 88SE9123 chipset? And what other controllers do give the correct SMART info.
