There's no problem here. I'm just curious...

I use rsync to copy files from FreeNAS to my Debian machine. When copying a brand new folder I got this:

Code:
sent 1106 bytes received 164643 bytes 47356.86 bytes/sec
total size is 94319687116 speedup is 569051.32

This data has not been on this computer before. How did it transfer so fast?

(to top it off it's a 100 mBit NIC)

My guess is that you're mistaken about the data not having already been at the destination. Speed up implies that less data needed to be transferred than was requested. Either the data was already there, or rsync screwed up and thought it didn't need to transfer anything.

If you check the transferred data, is it correct?
