Hi folks,
We have a FreeNAS based off-site replication partner to a more fully supported TrueNAS system with about 1PB of raw storage. It looks like the FreeNAS box somehow lost half of its disks (60 of 120 8TB drives), likely due to a failed SAS connection, and the volume is in an UNKNOWN state. An import attempt failed and now I am pondering what to do. The primary storage is perfectly healthy so there is no data loss, but we are motivated to recover from this as quickly as we can.
To replicate hundreds of TBs in place from scratch would likely take too long, so we might end up driving for a while to go get the box, bring it on site, fix the hardware issues and replicate at 10gbps, then take it back to its home.
This seems like a lot of headache so I am wondering if anyone has advice on what steps we might take if we were to fix the hardware problems at the colo, and try importing the existing volume somehow.
Any and all advice is welcome, with the top goal being to save time.
Thanks in advance!
