We're using FreeNAS 8.3 as an iSCSI backup target with a simple RAID1 ZFS configuration (two 3TB drives) plus an SSD L2Arc cache. Each week, I use the Volume Status in the web GUI to Offline one of the drives, then I physically pull it out and take it offsite then I destroy the volume and physically insert our oldest backup drive, create a new RAID1, and use that as the backup target for the next week.
From time to time I've tested to make sure I can Auto Import the drives that I physically remove, and I always can. However, when I go to mount the iSCSI volume in Windows, it appears as a Raw (but healthy) volume and none of the data is visible. I know this used to work (perhaps in v8.1 or so), but it no longer does.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
