Hello all. So I just started replacing the second HDD on my freeNAS box. The first one was resilvered without much (or any issues) but this time the story is quite different. I followed the manual "Offline"d the faulty disk>Pulled it out>Put the new disk in and clicked "replace". Now as I remember the last time I did these steps I reached a pop up with a drop down menu with the replaced hard disk showing. This time its blank. :(. The steps are exactly what I followed before just a different result. Please find the pic attached and also the zpool status. Appreciate any help. thanks

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# zpool status -v
  pool: bhoot
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices has been taken offline by the administrator.
Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a
        degraded state.
action: Online the device using 'zpool online' or replace the device with
        'zpool replace'.

Hmm not sure what happened exactly but I tried the only thing I did last time. A SHUTDOWN. I shutdown the system removed the wires reinserted them and rebooted. Went to the said menu and this time the dropdown actually had a disk. Not sure what happened exactly but I am happy. The resilvering has started.
Code:
[root@freenas] ~# zpool status -v
  pool: bhoot
state: ONLINE
status: One or more devices is currently being resilvered. The pool will
continue to function, possibly in a degraded state.
action: Wait for the resilver to complete.

Sounds like your system doesn't support hot swap. Hot swap is for suckers anyway. It's always best to shut down a system to replace a drive.
