Possible upgrade

Would this be possible...

1. Move USB Freenas OS key and 2 zpool drives to new hardware. (I know this will work fine)
2. Upgrade 8.2 32bit to 8.2 64bit using either the gui or bootable CD

Basically I want to move to new hardware that is 64 bit capable with the least amount of effort. I already know I can move the drives and usb to new hardware as I have already done it. I guess the biggest question is can you upgrade freenas to the same version but 64 bit.

Does that make sense?

The answer is no, you need to do a fresh install, but volumes and configs should be re-importable.
