Hello,
we have just decided to use FreeNAS for our file serving machine, due to its capabilities.
After installing version 9.2.1.8 on a USB-flashdrive (16GB) I could easily configure a few features already.
When I wanted to create a RAIDZ, I tried to wipe the HDDs (5x 3TB WD RED) first.
So I went to "Storage" --> "View Disks" --> to get a list of the HDDs.
When I choose one of the HDDs an click the "wipe" button, it shows the following message:

Code:
Nov 10 15:18:47 castor notifier: gpart: arg0 'ada0': Invalid argument
Nov 10 15:18:47 castor notifier: ada0 created
Nov 10 15:18:47 castor notifier: ada0 destroyed

From my point of view, this is something to worry about. So I didn't go any further.

I tried to rewire with new SATA cables, but that didn't do the trick.
I'd be happy to have someone point to where I could start my search..
Internet didn't help that much..

Thanks and best regards,
Oliver

P.S.:
I am running Freenas on the following specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz (2993.13-MHz K8-class CPU)
real memory = 8589934592 (8192 MB)
5x 3TB WD RED
example output:

ada0: ATA-9 SATA 3.x device
ada0: Serial Number WD-WMC4N1848835
ada0: 600.000MB/s transfers (SATA 3.x, UDMA6, PIO 8192bytes)

Do you get an error when you try to create a volume? The wipe disk option is meant for retiring disks as better tools exist for prepping disks (which isn't always needed before formatting the volume).
