new users not authenticating

I setep freeNAS 8.3.1 fine on a VM using using ZFS volumes and CIFS shares. I hade 2 users which I crated initially in 2 different groups and everything went fine.

However, I then started to add more users, for some reason they can not get authenticated properly. I know the user credentials are fine since I can login via SSH. but can not get authenticated from windows.

When I login using any of the initial 2 users that i created I get the following

I have seen this happen across several windows 7 pc's.
