New Build for Mediaserver and Personal Cloud

I am planning to build my third Freenas system to replace the oldest one..

Intel Core i3-7100 Boxed
Supermicro X11SSM-F (Retail Pack)
4x WD Purple (2017), 4TB
Inter-Tech IPC 4U-4088-S Case
2x Samsung M391A2K43BB1 2x16GB DDR4
Seasonic Focus Plus 550 Gold PSU

Am planning to use 6 drives of 4Tb in Raidz Already have 2 as spares here.

Question is wether the I3 will do ECC?

Any comments please?

The mainboard may need a BIOS update to run a i3-7100.

With a i3-6100 you can be sure that you don't need a BIOS update to boot the system and that ECC works as expected.

Purple drives are sometimes not as reliable as Red in a NAS workload. What is the intended functionality of the system?

@loch_nas Thanks will size down the i3 to 6100 > Done

@Chris Moore Intended purpose = low intensity media server and low intensity home cloud.

Choice for the Purple is pure financial; it is 10% cheaper than the Red version and comes with the same warranties afaik.
