Yes, I test my backups and I am actually running my system now from a restored backup that included my Plex install and Plex is working fine and all the metadata and everything is there just as it was before the backup/restore.

So, you managed to backup a path that's > 260 characters! How did you achieve this?

My assumption is my Plex directories aren't longer than 255 characters then.

Do you have a specific Plex directory/file location that you want me to check on my system to see the length of the path?

/mnt/YOURPOOLNAME/jails/plexmediaserver_1/usr/pbi/plexmediaserver-amd64/plexdata/Plex\ Media\ Server/

Then add the path that's inside the Plex Media Server directory (with the above path, we reached about 80 characters...)

Well I'm using Linux and the longest I'm seeing so far is something like:

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata/TV Shows/1/2adcc482210339c41fd958667dc685cdabd0a80.bundle/Contents/_combined/seasons/2/episodes/24/thumbs/com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb_8e7bca176cc9630fe8661ac4336f81b39c4cdd98

This is 253 characters so it's getting pretty close. I guess none go over?

Although searching around I'm not finding anything about max path length on rsync (just max filename length) for Linux, just Windows seems to talk about max path length.

You search for MAXPATHLEN, frequently 1024 on a UNIX system.

Ahh, this is what I get on my system:

getconf PATH_MAX /
4096

Sorry, I know this doesn't help FreeNAS.
