Greetings.

This is my first serious NAS that I am planning on building, and I would like to hear some input whether this would be sufficient for my needs.

The NAS will at most be streaming movies to 3 different computers simultaneously (unlikely), and it will be used for general file storage and backup.

The setup I am thinking of going with is as follows:

Case:
Arc Midi R2
http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/arc-series/arc-midi-r2-solid-side-panel

Motherboard:
X10SLL+-F
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C220/X10SLL_-F.cfm

CPU:
Xeon E3 1241 V3
http://ark.intel.com/products/80909/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-1241-v3-8M-Cache-3_50-GHz

PSU:
Corsair AX760
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/ax760-...-80-plus-platinum-certified-fully-modular-psu

Ram:
2 X 8 GB ECC unbuffered
http://eu.crucial.com/eur/en/ct102472bd160b

HDD:
6 X 4 TB WD RED(Raidz2)

Boot:
2 X SanDisk Ultra Fit - 16GB

Therefore, I have a couple of questions.

I know the PSU is overkill for 6 drives, but I intend to put in a SAS 9211-8i in the x8 slot and upgrade with another 6 drives, and maybe a SSD or two for ZIL or L2ARC if it is needed. Have anybody tried using the x8 slot on the X10SLL+-F? And if so has there been any problems with it?

Does this setup look good enough to last a couple of years now?

Thanks for any and all responses in advance :)

Edit:
Updated specs

Hi @QuinZuNiX and welcome.

This probably will not be ideal to stream video. Maybe only if no transcoding needed.

Thanks for the welcoming and the fast response :)
would the 8 core version be better suited? or do i need more single thread performance?
and the chances of multiple streams is very low, but i could happend from time to time.

You can compare different versions of atom here. I've included a xeon version that is normal to use with freenas. I think, by reading around, that you need +-2000 passmark score for each stream of transcode. If you search the forum, you will find many threads with more info.
Thanks for the sugestion.
you are indeed right that it is 2000+ per transcoding, and i looked around and found that i coulde get a Xeon E3 1241 V3 plus mobo for the same price as a C2750, but the Xeon has a score of 10k, which should be more than enough.

Do you have any experience cooling a Xeon E3? i was thinking of just using the stock cooler, but i might upgrade it jusst to be sure.
Thanks.
