After reading some articles and debating on how I want to upgrade my storage going forward I decided to convert my RAIDZ pool that consists of 3x3 TB and 1x4 TB drives to a mirrored pool. I created a mirrored pool from the 2x1 TB drives I had in a separate Stripe pool, along with 2 new 4 TB drives that I just bought so that I have sufficient space to copy the data from the RAIDZ pool.
I was under the assumption that I would have close to 5 TB worth of space since there is no parity to calculate and (2x4)+(2x1)= 10 but somehow I only have 4.5 TB of space. Where did the extra 500 or so GB go?
