Hi,
I am going to build mid-range nas for max 8 HDD in RAID1. It will not access many users at the beginning but I need to make it expandable.

I have decided for these components:
  • CASE: Supermicro CSE-825TQ-R740L
  • CPU: Intel Xeon Bronze 3104 @ 1.7GHz, 6 cores
  • MB: Supermicro MBD-X11SPi-TF
  • RAM: Samsung 2x8GB DDR4-2666 LP ECC
  • HDD some WD NAS version, SATA3
  • systemHDD: SSDKingston 120GB A400 SATA3
I want to make sure that this CPU and other components are suitable for NAS.
Thank you!

What are you going to use the server for?

Some useful links:

You should start at the beginning and learn some fundamentals about FreeNAS and ZFS because the ZFS filesystem makes FreeNAS different than what most people are familiar with.
