I am trying to get Windows 7 (64 bit) to register my new 4TB drives. It sees them as 2047GB. All drives (an assortment of different sizes and types) are running through the M1015 (it is in IT mode) to the PC. I have verified they are seen as 4TB through the motherboard.

When booting the computer, the M1015 seems to list all my 4TBs as 2047GB. The odd thing is I have one 4TB Seagate drive that seems to work fine through the M1015. Nothing special was done to have this one working. I have tried formatting, adding as GPT, converting to Dynamic, etc. Everything I do doesn't seem to work.

From what I read, the M1015 should be able to use 4TB. Anyone out there with experience or some tips to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have ran accross the following thread -
http://forums.freenas.org/index.php...y-showing-as-2-2tb-on-intel-m1015-card.16622/. This leads me to believe I need to update the BIOS. I originally flashed the fireware using a thread back in 2012. I'm looking for some input before I jump down this rabbit hole. It's been a while since I messed with it.

Here is a picture of the PC booting up with a 4TB drive attached to the M1015 - http://imgur.com/X1YAc5P.

Thanks!!

What does yours say?

Got a picture of your card? You definitely don't have an M1015. The M1015 has never had a 2TB limit. So either you got some fake trying to be passed of as an M1015 or you didn't buy an M1015 at all.

Well.. crap. Thanks for clearing it up cyberjock. I guess I need to look into finding a reputable seller since it's been too long to request my money back. Do you have any sellers you refer for the M1015?

You could always try to flash it. Found http://www.virtualistic.nl/archives/750 that explains how to flash BR10i to LSI 1068e-firmware. I tried FreeNAS with an LSI 1068e-based card (Intel SASUC8I) and it worked, but it's not passing S.M.A.R.T. data i'm afraid.

Well, that controller is limited to 2TB drives, so it's not really worth using for 4TB drives. ;)

Again, thanks for your help cyberjock. One more quick question.

To make things a little nicer with the new setup I would like to purchase a longer cable. I purchased the following - SFF 8088 Infiniband to SFF 8087 mini SAS. I would like a tad longer one. Would this one work just fine to replace it - cable?

A tad longer? You mean 1m longer! ;) That's "hell-a" long.

SAS has different cable limits than SATA. I'm not sure I'd ever recommend a 2m cable if you plan to use SATA drives.

That's unfortunate. I was hoping to find something long enough to route around the back. Nothing around it I guess? :(
