I was having bad lockups as well. I have been fine since I got my Intel NIC on early Monday morning. First step I'd suggest for anyone is to spend the $30 to get the suggested Intel NIC

my new motherboard was only $200..... probably cheaper than your hourly rate to fix the problems :)
