I have a TrueNAS server and a Plex Server running on Windows 10 with a 10gb direct connect copper in to a MikroTik 5-Port Switch
but my PC is still on 1gb cat5e till my 50 feet of fiber and card come in.
when I move files from 1 network drive to the other network drive it's the limited to 1gb speeds
but when i remote in to the Plex sever and move files from the Truenas sever i get all most full 10gb so is that normal? i'm running SMB network shares.

Yes, normal.
Why you ask? I have to make a few assumptions here...
1. On your PC you are moving files through your PC.
2. When you remote in, the files are transferred internally to the machine, not going through any NIC so it's a very fast transfer.

I prefer to open a remote terminal and transfer a lot of files, so much faster.

Yeah thats what i figured the files are having to move though the slower part of the network to get to there destination.
Not a problum as i am getting 10gb Fiber to my main PC when the Card / Transceiver and fiber get here. most of the time i justremote in and move the stuff direct through the 10gb part of the network.
thanks for the input
