I'm a complete freenas newbie. I downloaded the freenas stable edition, Used Win32Diskimager to write the iso to a 16gb usb stick. Put the stick in my "freenas" server and booted. I get the grub screen, select install, and it stops with a "Fatal Trap 12" error. My server is :
ASRock AM1B-ITX AM1 4 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

AMD Sempron 3850 Kabini Quad-Core 1.3GHz Socket AM1 25W SD3850JAHMBOX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon HD 8280

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL

and 3 WD Network Red 2TB IntelliPower SATA III 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (NAS) WD20EFRX - Bare Drive

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Barry

Fatal trap 12 is generally a hardware problem - motherboard/cpu/memory. I once started having the issue out of the blue. After replacing all my hardware, except the HDD's and flash drive, my problem disappeared. Replacing the hardware was overkill, but at the time I had more money than free time.

Some users have had problems with the AM1 CPU's.

Do a forum search on "fatal trap 12" and see what it turns up.

Wow @gpsguy, you let him off pretty easy. He has no ECC, a non-recommended CPU/platform, etc. Trap 12 is the least of his problems, probably, going forward.
