IBM 1016 and Motherboard SATA ports

I have FreeNAS running V9.1.1 - great.

I have one MSATA and 4 SATA drives connected to my motherboard and have no SATA ports left.

I just bought an IBM 1016 card.

I was wondering if I can use both 1016 SATA ports and the Motherboard SATA ports to give me 12 ports.

Is the 1016 faster than the motherboard ports?

I presume you meant to type IBM 1015. Yes, you can use both sets of ports.

yes, i didi and many thanks. This will help alot. It means I can run my existing system and build a new zpool at the same time

btw, i presume you know that you'll want to flash it to IT mode.

yes, I saw that. Also bought 2 sets of 4 SATA cables for direct connection to 3TB Seagate drives.
I will go to Raid Z2 - I already have 4 drives - I probably will offload everything and then restart everything from scratch.
