I have a FreeNAS-11.2-U8 server that has 6 4TB drives in ZFS-2. For some reason, I didn't get a notification and I am at 99% capacity. I have moved files off and deleted them, but I think because of snapshots, I am not clearing up any space.

I already had planned on replacing all the drives with 10TB drives, and have started doing that, but not all the drives have been replaced yet. I need to get this under control right away.

What can I do at this point?

Thanks,
Kirk

You could always delete snapshots.

Yeah, that is an option. One of the reasons that I like FreeNAS is that the snapshots provide Ransomware protection. I am a little nervous deleting a lot of them. I guess I am not knowledgeable enough in detecting ransomware, so it is a little disconcerting to delete my insurance. (snapshots)

I have a week old synch of the entire system on a fairly new TrueNAS machine that has more capacity, so those older snapshots will still be there on the backup machine. But still. I just feel like I am on shaky ground.
